Solar - RetroPak

Breathe new life into your existing cylinder with RM Solars new RetroPak.

In some cases it may be no longer necessary to change your existing cylinder and replace it with one that has an addiotional solar coil. This product therefore provides a far better carbon footprint for the environment as well as saving cost on the installation.

The RetroPak essentially works by transfering preheated water back into cylinder by means of a specially developed Dip Pipe, and heat transfer process, while still complying with building regulations. Once the solar preheated water has been collected by your existing cylinder your primary heat source can be used to continue heating the preheated water to the required temperature. This unit has been specially developed using solar rated componants to give a performance every inch as good as a twin coiled unit.

On days of sufficient daylight the cylinder may not require any input from the boiler or immersion heater, utilising just the solar input for hot water needs.

We recommend you can use the RetroPak where the existing cylinder is in good condition and it meets the guidance on solar and total water capacities for storage units.

Our current pack is suitable for vented copper cylinders in both direct and indirect formats - please specify which you have at the time of ordering, as the pipe configuration is different for each. We also recommend a minimum volume of 160 Litres with a 2 panel kit or 144 Litres with a 1 panel kit to ensure compliance with solar regulations and standards.

We are also looking to launch in the near future, a RetroPak for unvented units which will allow uder certain circumstances cylinders with many years guarantee left to be used. Please watch out for forth coming details.
